Welcome to MemeScreens (the “Site”). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you visit or use our website.

MemeScreens does not run third-party advertising and does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We aim to collect only what we need to operate the Site and to keep it useful and secure.

2. Information We Collect

When you visit our Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies or local storage entries that are placed on your device. As you browse the Site, we collect information about the pages you view, the clips you interact with, and how you navigate the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

Device Information

• Cookies and local storage: We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries that are necessary for the Site to function. This includes a session cookie that keeps you logged in if you create an account, and a browser-stored identifier used to remember which clips you have liked as a guest. • Log data: Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard request information such as your IP address, user-agent, referring page, and timestamps. This data is used to operate the Site, detect abuse, and analyze traffic in aggregate.

Personal Information

If you register for an account, we collect:

• Email address — used to log in, communicate with you about your account, and recover access if needed.
• Username — displayed publicly next to clips you upload.
• Password — stored only in hashed form; we do not have access to your plaintext password.

If you upload clips, we also store the clip files, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, tags, and basic metadata associated with your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
• Allow you to log in, manage your account, and access uploaded content
• Display public information you have chosen to share (such as your username next to clips you upload)
• Understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service
• Comply with legal requirements

We do not use your information to serve advertisements, build advertising profiles, or share it with advertising networks.

4. Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site. Cloudflare Web Analytics is a privacy-friendly analytics product that does not use client-side state (such as cookies or localStorage) to track visitors, and does not collect IP addresses, user-agent strings, or any data that can be used to identify or fingerprint individual visitors.

5. Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information with third parties only in the following limited cases:

• Service providers — Cloudflare hosts the Site, stores uploaded files in Cloudflare R2, and stores account data in Cloudflare D1. These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security obligations.
• Legal compliance — We may share information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request for information we receive, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.

6. Do Not Track

Our Site does not respond to Do Not Track signals from your browser. We do not engage in cross-site tracking, so a Do Not Track signal would have no practical effect on our data collection.

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the GDPR or equivalent laws, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect about you and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information under any reading of the CCPA.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal information from active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal or operational reasons (such as records of copyright takedown notices).

Clips you have uploaded will be removed from the public Site when your account is deleted; we may retain non-identifying aggregate information for analytics and operational purposes.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the security infrastructure provided by Cloudflare. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last Updated” date at the top.
